Grootfontein Mall construction start early 2013

The developers of the Grootfontein Mall has confirmed to the Grootfontein Municipality that the mall will be constructed early 2013 and open its doors for shopping by the end of the same year or early 2014. The mall form part of the Council Local Economic Development strategies to uplift the standard of living of the inhabitants and service delivery. Grootfontein serves as a gateway to some of the best eco- and adventure activities in Southern Africa and with its moderate climate; it becomes the preferred tourist destination. For shopping enthusiasts the town will offer a state of art and a  world class shopping mall by end of 2013, This will creates an excellent opportunities for prospective investors and businesses to establish themselves in the town of  Grootfontein. The council has provided land to the investors for the size of 4 hectors. The mall will cost the investors more than N$ 70 Million to complete the entire construction of the Mall. This will be a very big mall that will cater for all services needed by the inhabitants and tourist alike. This initiative is part of the council objectives to achieve the national strategic goals of the national government such as vision 2030 and millennium development goals. As part of this initiative the council wants the local businesses to think beyond the world of business and embrace a culture of social responsibility. As the council we want to speak with real authority in promoting decoupling of service delivery and encourage local people to contribute to the economy of the town as well as Small Medium Enterprise. This will help the economy of the town to grow especially in longer terms.  There are also capital projects that are currently under construction such as the new Omulunga Industrial Park and the new Secondary School.
